Tayton was all about Big Hero 6 when it came out. He watched it at least once a day and any time it was his turn to pick the movie for family movie night he would pick Big Hero 6. He was especially fond of Baymax. When I asked him what the wanted for his birthday he knew right away and told me very excitedly that he wanted a Baymax birthday party.
The two of us sat down on Pinterest and began our plans for the party. There were lots of super cute ideas out there for the food so before long we had a plan in place.
I found the cutest banner at Must Have Mom and printed it out so that I would have the letters for Happy Birthday Tayton. (she has the whole alphabet so you can just pick and print the letters you want). I glued each letter on a ribbon to make the actual banner part and then taped it to the table-cloth background.
I used $1 red table cloths as the back drop and table setting and then cut up red and black streamers to add the space. I then blew up Red and White balloons for Baymax and colored his face on them. We tied string to the back of them and hung them up by taping them to the back of the table cloths.
My sister in-laws and I came up with the fun headers for each food and then one of my sister in-laws made the cute tags for me.
If you have seen the movie you will know that each character has a fun or cute saying so we took each of those sayings to create the header.
The character Go Go always says “Woman up” so we created some Go Go’s Woman-Up sauce with apple sauce because its Taytons favorite snack.
I used Bluebell cheese and drew eyes on them with a permanent marker. The marker did not want to stay on the wax cover of the cheese very well so I might try something different if I do these again.
The character Wasabi has dreadlocks so we used Tootsie Rolls as his “Dreds”.
Baymax is the cutest and fluffiest guy and at one point when the characters met him they all hug him and one of them says “Its like spooning a warm marshmallow.” so we HAD to make some Baymax cupcakes out of marshmallows. We used a food marker to draw eyes on giant marshmallows and then stuck them to the frosted cupcakes to make Baymax cupcakes.
The character of Fred calls himself Fredzilla and at one point during the movie he is offered some food and his response is “Yes! Nothing’s better than free food! Unless it’s moldy…” so we got creative and made some Fredzilla’s NOT moldy bars, and of course had to make them free. They look totally nasty and moldy but they tasted FANTASTIC. I used the recipe at Play Party Plan but my candy eye balls totally melted giving the bars the moldy look. We thought it turned out perfect and was hilarious.
I made sugar cookies and did a new frosting recipe. This was the first time I had ever tried it and the frosting kept wanting to “run away” as I spread it. I think they turned out well for my first attempt.
For the party favor bags I bought white bags at Hobby Lobby and drew Baymax eyes on them, easy peasy.
I used the adorable printable from Our Thrifty Ideas for the tags on the mini water bottles.
Tayton with his best buddy Henry.
For the games we played Go Go’s disc toss. We made the board with tape on the floor and used yellow paper plate with red circles on them for the discs. Each kid got 5 turns and we kept track of their scores and the highest scores got candy bars.
We did a Baymax shooter game and the kids had to use the Baymax fists to shoot down the red paper cups.
I used the adorable Baymax cut out and Baymax emotions for Pin the Emotion on Baymax. I found the cut outs for Baymax and the emotions at Must Have Mom.
Present opening time!!!
For the drinks we did Honey flavored Lemonade (which was insanely delicious). The character Honey Lemon was in charge of all the chemistry weapons for the group and she made balls of goo that she threw so we had to make the drink Honey Lemon’s Exploding Concoction. I found the straws at Hobby Lobby and drew Baymax Eyes on the white cups. Good thing his eyes are so easy to draw because I ended up drawing them A LOT for this party.
For his cake I did a spin on the BIG HERO 6 title and made it Big Tayton 5. I outlined the cake in buildings for the San Fransokyo Skyline and added all the Big Hero Six figures to the top of the cake. I added candy balls around the bottom.
We had such a blast at the party and I had a great time making everything for the party.
Check out some of Taytons other parties.
