When you move the month of Halloween you kind of phone it in when it comes to costumes. But of course the lover of all things crafty in me at to make some of our costumes, because I could never forgive myself if I didn’t. Hahaha personal “peer” pressure anyone?
Braddoc is currently obsessed with the Hobbit movies so he went as Frodo. I simply cut the collar off a shirt, sewed up a quick cap out of fleece and cut some pants I found at Goodwill to make them shorter. I snagged an Elfin pin from Amazon, grabbed a vest out of our costume bin and Bam! Frodo is a go for Halloween.
Landon, Aowyn and Tayton were super easy. Landon wanted to be an Alabama player: Amazon, check!
Aowyn wanted to be Elsa…. we already owned an Elsa costume… check (for free).
We got to go to the elemntary schools Halloween carnival which was super fun. The kids had a blast and I left wishing all schools did this. I loved going to my schools Halloween Carnival growing up, but this is the first school we have been to that has done this.
Noah and I decided to be Mary Poppins and Bert. I quickly wiped up a costume using old costume pieces, a few Goodwill finds, some Dollar store flowers and red silk. I ordered the gloves on Amazon (my lifesaver for all things Halloween).
For the hat I just glued the flowers to the red ribbon I put around the rim so that I didn’t “ruin” the hat to where I couldn’t use it with future costumes. Oh my word this girl is a cutie.
Noahs outfit was super easy. He already owned EVERYTHING. I added some red fabric around his neck and cut up a black shirt he owned but hated and turned it into his vest. Add some “chimney dust” to his face and his costume is complete. Seriously… this girl is so beautiful and sweet. She told me that her shoulders showing was immodest and she wanted to wear a white shirt under it. So tiny and practically perfect in every way. Every year we dress up to match. Some years the kids match us too but most years its just us. I love that he will dress up with me. Landon and his buddy Talon at our churches Trunk or Treat, and Braddocs “ghost” in the background giving them bunny ears. The whole Holly Jolly gang.
Everyone wanted a chance to try on my Mary Poppins hat.
Trick or treating is exhausting when you’re a tiny little Princess. We had an absolute blast this year, even though we were stressed from our move across country. But Halloween is our favorite time of the year and we couldn’t pass up the chance to have as much Halloween fun as possible.
To see some other years costumes go here.
