I’m a sucker for a good reading spot. I have a passion and love for reading so of course I always have that in mind when I think about how I want to decorate my houses. Every single house we have ever lived in (which has been a lot since we moved a lot with the military) I have made sure we had a place to put our bookshelves and a reading chair. I move the furniture around a lot and decided that due to several different reasons we needed a reading nook update. This space has gotten updated and revamped several times. This yellow cabinet became our food storage cabinet and it was a bit of a pain to take out all of the canned food we needed when it was so far away from the kitchen so we changed some things around a bit and move the cabinet over closer to the kitchen and gave this area a bit of an update. Obviously these book shelves couldn’t go anywhere so I left them right where they were. When we looked at renting this house I told my husband we needed a walk big enough for the bookshelves and this wall became the bookshelf wall.
I brought the gentleman’s cabinet out from our Master bedroom and put it where the big cabinet had been. I changed out the colors and gave it a more neutral farmhouse feel. I love how the light streams in these windows. It makes the corner the perfect place to cuddle up with a good book. I find my oldest curdle up in the chair reading his books often, so it really has been the perfect reading nook for our family. We have big open concept feel in this space and so its nice to have a little corner tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the area. I LOVE how it turned out and how it really give the space more of a Farmhouse feel which is really what I was going for. I think our Reading Nook update really accomplished the feel we were going for.
