Easter Decor

It’s no secret that I love decorating for holidays. I am totally a person who changes out and moves around furniture all the time, so a holiday gives me a reason to change out my decor whenever I want without having to move around my furniture.

I love everything about Easter. I love the baby chicks and how they symbolize birth. I love the eggs and how the symbolize that the tomb was empty. I love the fluffy bunnies… because well, um… ITS SO FLUFFY!!!

I love everything about this season and all that it stands for. I love teaching my kids about the real meaning of Easter and about their Savior and my Savior. I love it with all of my heart. It truly is the most important holiday.

I should have posted this before Easter, but it was spring break and we were busy having fun… and maybe spring cleaning too, but if my kids complain, you should totally tell them its normal, m-kay?

I love finding fun printables on Pinterest. I found both of these years ago but unfortunately I can’t find where I found them. If you know I would love to tag them.

Two Easters ago I found these cuties at Hobby Lobby and bought enough to make our little family. I just love them. And the kids do too, I think its their favorite thing to see come out of the decor bins.

I love working in this space… I’m pretty sure it does not get much better then this. So bright and airy and totally just pure perfection. I love to be able to sit here and reflect on things. I really need a more comfortable chair though, It’s on my buying list.

I love decorating the bookshelves for each holiday. It’s such a fun space to see transform.

I’m sad to take down all the holiday decor… but I have so many more projects to work on that I have plenty to keep me busy.

I found you commenting somewhere and am glad I dropped by to check your blog.
Sorry I will not say much about your very pretty decorations but, being a bibliophile, I fell in love with your packed bookcase. 😀

A REAL bookcase with books placed not by color. I can see you have Vernes and Harry Potter and much more. Library approved.

    I subscribe just for that.

I just did a post on the whole book shelf and our “library”. http://findingyourjoyinthejourney.com/library-and-office-space/ A good book is worth more then a million times its weight in gold.

  • These are the kinds of things that make me smile. We don't have a table in the formal dining room yet so the kids end up using the area to play house. I walked into the room to turn the light off before bed and saw this sweet little sight. I had one kid home with an ear infection yesterday so he entertained his sister while baby brother and I took a nap and this was what they did. I love when my kids get along. #siblings #reallife #ourhouse #makingmemories #diningroom #unfinishedspaces #workinprogress #blessed #momof5
  • Seriously!!!?? He is so precious!!! #fifthbaby #5kids #4boys #blessed #soprecious #momof5 #lovehim #3weeksnew
  • Well hello handsome guy who totally stole my heart. 😍❤️ #4thboy #myson #5kids #momof5 #handsomebaby #babyboy #soinlove #10daysold #postpartum
  • We are in need of new couches since we sold ours before we moved cross country and I am really crushing on this couch by @rcwilley. It sure is a beauty and would be perfect for my crazy house full of kids (especially boys) the color looks like it would easily hide any kid messes. I love the look of the brads and those legs are to die for!!! Maybe one day we can afford to get two new couches for our living room, but for now we are making do with the kids play room couch in the living room. 😜 #crush #furniture #wantit #needit #havetohaveit #weneedcouches #rcwilley #couchlove
  • This corner has become the family favorite. If the chair is open you better snag it because it won't stay open for long. My 9 year old loves to read books in the chair and usually the side table is filled up with his books or drawings. The chair also reclines so it's usually the first spot taken for family movie night. This is also the kids favorite spot for holding baby brother. It's a favorite of mine now too. ❤️ #favoritespot #familytime #livingroom #welivehere #cornerdecor #chairs #movienight #familymattersmost
  • Last night was a rough night of sleep with little man, so today I just want to lay on the couch and rest, this is the view from the couch and it just makes me happy. I love the size of our entry way!! I love looking out and seeing all the trees!! I have to get up and be somewhat productive today especially since hubby goes back to work next week and reality sets in. The house needs cleaned up, good thing I can put some kids to work. I'm so sore still so trying to take it easy. #oneweekpostpartum #welivehere #newbaby #babyboy #5kids #5thbaby #entryway #livingroom #cleanornottoclean
  • This weeks posts I'm calling real life. My house is far from perfectly clean and there are piles of stuff in random places but it all just makes me smile. There are remnants of a fake birthday party my 7 year old threw for my 5 & 4 year old while I was in the hospital. Baby items from our sweet little newest addition that just make me so happy. There are random books my kids are reading, notebooks they have been drawing in, nerf guns from a nerf war, Princess from my daughters imaginative playing, cups of water and spelling tests sporting a big bold A at the top. There are days when the mess overwhelms me and I can't see the beauty in it all but I have been trying my best to see each thing for what it truly is... Life being lived and enjoyed. Yes eventually messes need to get cleaned up and yes I want my kids to know how to clean and value work and chores but at the same time I want them to know that this is our house, not my house but ours together and having the freedom to have fun and be creative is what these walls are for. I decorate to make our house a home and a place of beauty for us all, I don't decorate for the world to see how "perfect" I am because I am far from it. Yes we live here and I love it!!! Excuse the mess, the children are making memories! 😘 #reallife #myfamily #ourhouse #livingroom #perfectlyblessed #ourhome #makingmemoriestogether
  • Pillows and blankets everywhere, school papers and baby items are all over the couch, toys are hidden among the decor on the bookshelf and I wouldn't have it any other way. Bless this beautiful mess because it means my babies live here and this house is full of love and laughter. I'm sitting here cuddling my newest little guy as he sleeps and his siblings are all at baseball with dad and not a single part of me wants to put him down to clean. The mess will be back within hours of cleaning but I can't get back the loss of cuddles. Definitely enjoying my journey right now. #beautifulmess #blessed #livingthedream #livingroom #momof5 #momlife #sohappy #enjoythejourney #happiness
  • These two 😍❤️!!! My littlest two babies are home with me during the day while big brothers are at school!!! I have 5 kids now yall, it seems so surreal. I am so madly, deeply, head over heels in love with each of them and feel pieces of my heart missing when they are not with me. This mom life is the best, hard and emotional but by far the best! I feel so blessed to be on this journey with my best friend and soul mate! It's good to be home! #babyboy #babies #5kids #fynnockgrady #soinlove #myloves #mygirl #myheart #momlife #momof5
  • Our little man came rushing into the world after 4 hours of labor yesterday 4/15/16. I was standing and leaning over trying to work through a contraction (I don't do epidurals) and he literally about fell out he came so fast. I barely had time to get back on the bed before he was out. Daddy almost had to delivery him, the nurse came running because she heard me scream. I literally went from a 6 to holding him in 30 minutes. It was a very crazy and eventful labor. We named him Fynnock Grady and he was my biggest boy weighing in at 8 lb 14 oz. We are all smitten and head over heels in love. He looks EXACTLY like his daddy. #baby #babyboy #delivery #fynnockgrady #labor #laboranddelivery #soinlove
  • I've been having lots of kidney stones the past two weeks and little guy has not been liking it very much so since I am 39.5 weeks the doctor decided it was best on baby boy and me if they induce me to get him out tomorrow. Today is the last day home alone with this little beauty. She has been my baby for 4.5 years, it's really starting to sink in that tomorrow she won't be my youngest anymore. She has been the perfect girly addition to our house full of boys. She is my best little buddy and my shadow. I'm sure she will look older and taller after the baby comes because that's just how it works. I know she is going to be a great little mommy and a big helper to me. I'm excited to see her go from being the baby to the big sister but at the same time I'm not sure I'm willing to let her go and grow. It's funny how this whole parenting thing works... We sometimes wish away the hard days only to realize that we have wished away life. I love the quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson, "The Years teach much what the days never know." The days go by so slowly sometimes but the years seem to zoom by. I'm really trying my best to enjoy each day and make the most of it. At the stage of life my kids are now in, where life is full of sports, school and homework I feel like the days are beginning to zoom by as well. Today I am a mixed basket of emotion: Fear, excitement, nervousness, eagerness, overwhelmed, overjoyed, contemplative, blessed, and so much more. What will tomorrow hold? How will the kids handle a new baby after not having one in the house in so long? Hahaha this is why I hate inductions.... To much time to think. 😉 Here's to having new babies and watching your other babies grow like weeds before your eyes... time please slow down. #pregnant #induction #kidneystones #kidneydisease #baby #newbaby #mygirl #5kids #5thbaby #4boys #1girl #myloves #timeslowdown
  • It's Autism Awareness month and I can't pass up this chance to talk about my favorite 7 year old. Braddoc is the sweetest boy who fights one of the hardest battles every day. At 4 years old he was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Aspergers (which is now all rolled into one). I had been fighting for several years to get him diagnosed but it still was a hard realization for all of us when he was finally diagnosed. We have so many good times and some very very difficult times. Just when I think I have a grasp on this whole Autism/Autism Mom thing something changes and he hits us with a new Autism curve ball. Some days I see bright days in his future and other days I fight back the tears all day long because I have no idea what his future will be like. Just the other night I cried myself to sleep worried about his well being and how he was doing. It's a hard journey but a beautiful journey. Braddoc is learning to play team sports and has his hard days with that but mostly it's been great for him. He is very athletic and is learning how to make friends. He struggles with conversations but thankfully at 7 years old making friends is mostly about throwing around balls, riding bikes, playing tag and sports. He loves with all his heart and even though he has a very hard time with his emotions and is still learning how to control them he is one of the most empathetic people I've ever met. He loves baseball and football. He is so excited to help take care of baby brother when he comes. He falls asleep on the couch almost every night during family prayer. He is learning how to unload the dishwasher and vacuum the floor. He loves Disney and roller coasters. He would stay outside every second of the day if he could. He could eat pizza or mac and cheese for every meal but is getting really great at eating what's for dinner without too much fighting. He has the biggest smile and the most caring heart. He is always teaching me something new, whether it's patience in adversity or love through difficult times. Some days I think I am not cut out to be an Autism Mom and other days I can't thank God enough for this journey. This is Braddoc and he is the face of Autism.

Words to live by

“Give your child a compliment and a hug; say, ‘I love you’ more; always express your thanks. Never let a problem to be solved become more important than a person to be loved. Friends move away, children grow up, loved ones pass on. It’s so easy to take others for granted, until that day when they’re gone from our lives and we are left with feelings of ‘what if’ and ‘if only.’ … “Let us relish life as we live it, find joy in the journey and share our love with friends and family. One day, each of us will run out of tomorrows. Let us not put off what is most important.” - President Thomas S. Monson
