Family Pictures: Alabama style

January 20, 2015 by Finding your joy in the journey Leave a Comment

You can’t go to Alabama, as an Alabama fan, and not take some Alabama FAN pictures.
You know those crazy fans who have to take Family Pictures in full fan gear?
Yeah thats us.
My wonderful Sister in Law, Melanie, went along with my crazy awesome idea and went out on a trek to find the perfect spot.
I had no idea that in this small town in Alabama you can take pictures ANYWHERE you want.
I’m used to people getting fined for taking pictures on public property in Vegas, so we were not really sure where we could take pictures.
We passed up some awesome old, run down, Southern charm places, for a public place… darn.
Well now we know… next time we know were to go.

I loved this area.
Right over Noahs right shoulder was a random toilet…. lol glad it did not join in on our family picture.
This house is one that I have loved since I was a kid.
There is an old legend that up in the “widows walk” an old man locked his wife away from the world and left her there, in that tiny space, till she died. Her ghost is still stuck in there, locked away, awaiting the day when she is let out so she can go to Heaven or intact her revenge, take your pick, it depends on who you ask.
We would walk by this house often when I was a kid (on vacations to Alabama, to visit family) and my mom would tell us the story over and over again. It never got old. I just loved it. I remember that every time we would walk by it at night, my brother and I would try to see if we could see her ghost, a few times we were certain we did.
Every time I drive by it now as an adult, I still look to see if I can see her ghost.
I have a dream to buy this house one day. I just love it so much.
I have always had a crazy obsession with ghost things, since I was a kid… maybe this is why.
I have never seen anyone in the house, or anything outside the house…. my tale, that I now tell the kids is that it is so haunted no one wants to live there, but that the family is so remorseful they pay to upkeep the lawn.
So of course I got a wild hair and made Melanie take a picture so I could have this picture immortalized forever on my wall….. Weird? I think not.

    Words to live by

“Give your child a compliment and a hug; say, ‘I love you’ more; always express your thanks. Never let a problem to be solved become more important than a person to be loved. Friends move away, children grow up, loved ones pass on. It’s so easy to take others for granted, until that day when they’re gone from our lives and we are left with feelings of ‘what if’ and ‘if only.’ … “Let us relish life as we live it, find joy in the journey and share our love with friends and family. One day, each of us will run out of tomorrows. Let us not put off what is most important.” - President Thomas S. Monson
