So I can’t hold it in any more. If I do I think I just might bust from all the excitement.

And I have totally been chomping at the bit to share with you some of the Halloween decorations I’ve been making. (hubby does not want me to decorate yet so these little beauties are just chilling in my garage till SATURDAY!!!! 4 more days, let the count down begin.)
Fall into Winter is my favorite time of the year.
I have cinnamon and clove burning in my Scentsy warmer and a mug of hot apple cider sitting next to the computer.
The long sleeve shirts and sweaters are going out of hiding and I couldn’t be more excited then I am right now.
I thought I would share some of my holiday excitement with you by sharing with you two of my latest Halloween goodies!
I was browsing through Hobby Lobby on one of my lovely outings with out kids. I love shopping alone because I actually have time to browse and get the creative juices flowing.
I came across a tray and since I have this crazy love of trays I decided that I was going to figure out how to make it all Halloweenie……
I tossed it in my cart and before I was out of the store I knew what I was going to do with it.
I came home and got to work!
I spray painted it black and added some scrap book paper to the back. (I already had this on hand, I told you I love Halloween. Do you believe me now?)
I tried just using glue stick glue but the paper would not stay down very well so I used my trusty glue gun. He(she?) and I have been through a lot, and he still to this day burns the heck out of me. Dang you glue gun!!!
So now that I had the tray done (it took a whole 5 minutes, plus paint drying time.) I decided that it needed something to go in it.
I am not super patient when it comes to waiting to do a craft, especially when I know what I want to do, so I looked around my house at all my “crafting items.” And I found 2 packs of balls that I had gotten at the Dollar Store ages ago and decided that I would make some balls to go in the tray.
I found all sorts of Halloween type fabric in my scrap piles. (one of them was an old tie of Hubby’s that had a stain on it, but because I loved the pattern I would not part with it. I knew it would come in handy one day.)
For this project you will need:
Scrap fabric
Balls (you can used Styrofoam, Wiffle balls, tennis balls, whatever you can find, preferably for cheap, I got 6 for $2)
Glue gun and glue sticks
Scissors
I was in a huge hurry to get these done before I picked my oldest up from school so I forgot (I know epic fail) to take pictures of the process! Sorry!!!
I measured around my balls and cut strips to go all the way around the ball. I made my strips about 1/2″ – 1″ wide so that they would lay flatter on the ball. The wider the strip the harder it will be to get the fabric to lay flat.
I then took a strip and put a dab of glue on the top of the ball and glued one end of the fabric down.
Then you will wrap the fabric around the ball to meet back up with the top piece, and then glue that part down back onto itself. (I hope that makes sense, curse’s for not taking pictures.)
Take another strip and start back on your last strip but this time cross the two strips at the top so it kind of looks like an X. Glue the piece onto the other piece and wrap it around until it comes back to itself and then glue again.
You will have one area of your ball where all the glue goes. You will want to pull your strips as tight as you can on the ball so that you don’t have in bunching or bubbles.
In the end all of your strips will overlap and cross at the top and bottom of your ball.
Keep up this process making sure you are covering new areas of the ball. You will want to overlap ever strip a little bit so that the last stripe lays flat.
I used about 8 strips on each ball.
With the lace ball, since it was see through, I used about 20 strips and just kept covering the strips up until I could not see the ball anymore.
It took me about 25 minutes to make 6 balls. (A cutie, little, trouble making two year old ran off with my solid black ball and I did not realize until after I took the pictures. Silly boy!)
All in all this project was super easy and super fast. I can’t wait till I can add it into all my Halloween decorations. ( 3 days, 23 hours and 11 minutes, but whose counting? Oh that’s right! ME!!!!)
I decided that since this was such a cheap and easy project and because I love the results that I am going to make some for Thanksgiving and Christmas too. Maybe then I will remember to take pictures. Maybe!!!
