When we were in Missouri last summer we got the change to go to this super fun old-fashioned town.
The kids had a blast with Grandpa David and Grams and Pop Pop.
They road on an old-fashioned merry-go-round.
They got to see what it was like in an old school. They learned about lunch time, and where the ink wells went on the desks (and what ink wells are). They learned about how the kids had to take turns putting coal in the stove to keep the place warm and they even learned about the Dunce hat…. it was hilarious to see the look on their faces when they learned about that one.
They had a fun little play ground and Aowyn was in heaven on the swings.
They even had a little area where you could pet baby goats and sheep.
The kids got to practice milking a “cow” and learn about how hard it is to do that. I told them about how you have to make sure the cow doesn’t kick you when you are doing it too.
They got to sit in real saddles and “ride horses”.
We saw real indian tee pee’s and see what life was like living in one. They had it all set up inside, it was pretty neat to see what it was all like for them… lots and lots of work from a moms perspective.
They also got to feed the baby goats with little bottles. There was a goat battle and Landons foot got right in the middle of it. One of them peed on Taytons foot and the one that Aowyn was feeding was mad when the milk was all gone and tried to eat her fingers. She thought it was pretty funny.
There was a fun little spot where the kids got to ride little tiny tractors. Those things were adorable…. and I totally want one at home.
And then the part that they were all super excited about… they got to ride real horses, it was a tiny little ride but they loved it. Landon horse stopped and peed while he was riding, I thought he was going to fall off the horse he was laughing so hard.
Aowyn was too little and young to ride, so she hung out with Grandpa David and watched the boys ride, she was so sad that she had to miss the fun horse riding.
The next day we got to go to a fun little museum where the kids had a blast trying on different masks and looking at spiders and insects.
Our Grams and Pop Pop sure did spoil us when we were there. It’s always fun to be with family. Grams and Pop Pop cooked us a big breakfast every morning and made up super yummy lunches and dinners. We also went out for Mexican and had lots of ice cream. The kids went to the Lake behind the house with Pop Pop and David a lot, and we all went to see a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang musical at a children’s theater. It was such a wonderful break from reality for us while we waited on a job offer.
