Relief Society Birthday Celebration

Our Relief Society Birthday Celebration was a huge success.

I got so many compliments on the party and the decorations, which was wonderful because I had so much fun planning and decorating for such a wonderful celebration.

At the end of February I got called as the 2nd counselor in the Relief Society Presidency and at the end of March I had to throw the Relief Society birthday party.
Needless to say March was a very busy month for me.
We made goody boxes in color coded themes and filled them with Easter eggs and chocolate since it was just a few days before Easter.

I found the to go boxes here on Amazon and covered them in colored ribbon that I purchased at Hobby Lobby when they had ribbon on sale.

I got the Easter Candy in bulk at Winco and filled the eggs up.

We put the eggs on beds of the same colored Easter Grass (the paper kind) that I bought at the Dollar Store.

I had to make 9 different colored coded flower arrangements, one for each table.
There was a lot of work involved. Thankfully I had a little Les Miserables on Blue Ray to keep me company….. makes my heart soar.
Then it was time for the birthday….. I was at the church decorating for over 9 hours.
Plus there was a big confusion and the building was double booked so we got to share with a group of guys who were painting the same room we were in.
See the scaffolding in the back?
Yeah that was fun!
At least they were nice and we could work well together.
It cracked me up because they changed their country music to classical music. I would have much preferred the country music but  I guess they thought that Relief Society meant classical music. :)
The middle table held our chocolate fountains and goodies.
I put fabric to cover the chalk board up and then tacked the frames up on the other side of the chalk boards.
We put 8 pieces of the 9 colors of paper in the bowl and had sisters draw color out so they would know which table they would be sitting at.
Each table was color coded and when the Sisters came in they had to draw a color and sit at that table.
Each chair had colored tulle tied around it, and each chair had the Relief Society Directory for our ward.
Each table had several different tongue depressors (color coded, of course) with fun questions to ask the sisters.

The idea behind the color coding was first that we wanted the sisters to sit with people they might not already know and because our Theme for the night was “Alone we are beautiful but together we can become better.”
We are all different and unique but together we all make up a beautiful rainbow of colors and talents.
Alone we can accomplish much, but together we can always accomplish so much more.
Each table had a cupcake that was color coordinated to match the table color.
We also had colored napkins to match the table.
We had gluten free options in the kitchen for the Sister who couldn’t eat Wheat.
Each box held the Easter eggs and was also color coded to match the table.
We turned their cups upside down and put the cupcakes on top, like a stand.
I had a ton of fun finding and collecting all the flowers and fabric, and the best part was that since I bought it all I got to keep it all.
I got to pick things that I would want to have in my home later on… decorate for a party AND have decor for my house… WIN, WIN!!!
I had an amazing time decorating for the party and making all the different things.
I really enjoy throwing parties so it was awesome to get to throw one for the ladies in my ward.
After this party (which our Stake Relief Society attended) I was asked to decorate for the Stake Relief Society activities.
That was such a huge honor!! I was over the moon excited that other people liked my decorations and wanted me to decorate for them.
I LOVE decorating, so any excuse to do more of it, is a great excuse to me.

  • This bums me out so much. I love Instagram and I don't like what changes they are making. If you comment or like my posts often it will automatically calculate to add my feed into your updates, otherwise make sure you turn on your notifications from me. Thanks 😉
  • I am a sucker for freckles. Little kids with faces sprinkled with freckles make me weak. Tiny noses and adorable checks with those little flecks all over them kill me. Anyone else have a weakness for little kids with freckles? #freckles #kiddos #momof5 #mommy #cutekids #tinynoses #lovethem
  • Swoon!!! All of it!!!! 😍❤️ @paigemcewen_amodernrustichome has the most gorgeous space!!! #diningroom #decor
  • The leprechaun came to visit us last night. Totally left footprints everywhere, peed in the toilet, pooped on the table, and peed in our milk. Sneaky little guy! At least he left us a good present. I can't wait to eat some corned beef and cabbage later today! We are Irish (all our kids have Irish or Celtic names) so we like this holiday, who am I kidding, all Holidays are so fun. 😂🍀#stpatricksday #leprechaun #holidays #green #tricky #funwithkids #everythingisgreen #irish
  • This beauty found its way to my home! I think we finally have all the dressers we need (for now). I can't wait to get to painting this. I'm thinking I'll go cream on the frame and faux stain the drawers a dark brown. This will go as our entry "table". The dresser that's there now will move to the boys room so they have more drawers and the chest of drawers in their room now will move to the babies room. Now I just need someone with muscles to help my poor hubby move all those pieces around. 😂😜 @mrs.amykelley I think we'll put @mrzekekelley and his muscles to work when you're here! 😉#fauxstain #painting #chalkpaint #chalkpaintpowder #bbfrosch #bbfroschmagic #bbfroschmaster #furnitureflip #movingfurniture #redo
  • I think that's one of the coolest cakes I've ever seen. My boys would all LOVE this. #coolcakes #cakes #cake #starwars #disney #mickeymouse #disneymom #disneyfan #dis
  • I really want to put shelves like this in the older boys room. I think they would work great to hold all of their stuff. I'm planning on putting in a desk for Lego building and then putting these above it so they can store their creations away from the hands of smaller little brothers. 😍 I bought the wood, now I just need to buy the metal pieces. @beneathmyheart totally killed it with her boys room. She is amazing. I've been following her blog for a long time but just recently realized I wasn't following her on Instagram! Fixed that right away! She is my inspiration with her 4 boys, One of whom is currently on The Voice! I was listening to his song last night on iTunes and my hubby (who is a huge music fanatic) walked in and said "who is that? They are really good, I don't think I've heard them before." He is amazing, you should totally go check them both out! #boysroom #makeover #industrialshelves #4boys #1girl
  • Seriously... I just want to move into @lizmariegalvan house! Think she would mind?! 😂😉 it's always just so swoon worthy. I absolutely love everything she does! She is insanely talented! I love following her and getting great ideas from her!!! ❤️ #follow #thatchairthough #thatclock #thecabinet #okayallofit
  • I finally had a bit of energy and made the baby one of the 3 blankets I bought fabric to make. 😍 we'll see if I ever get around to the other two. 😂 one works for now! #fabric #elephants #sewing #babyblanket #babyboy #babies #pregnant #thirdtrimester
  • I get compared to the energizer bunny a lot. People tell me that they have no idea how I do "it all" and have so much energy. Usually I just want to laugh because I'm not even sure what "it all" is but I definitely know I don't do it and most days I barely have the energy to get the basics of life handled let alone do much more. Yes some days I am a ball of energy and I go to bed feeling like I accomplished a ton and other days I can barely think about doing a project without needing to go take a nap. I pace myself ALL THE TIME and for every 30 min-1 hour project I do I have to take at least that much time (usually double) to rest up. I hate that I ever make someone feel like I can "do it all" because truthfully I'm a hot mess most of the time. I'm still figuring out this journey of life just like the next mom. I love the quote "comparison is the thief of joy." It's so true! How about we stop comparing and start celebrating each other on those good days and know that we also all have those hot mess days. I think we would all be much happier people if we took that road. 😀 #motherhood #mothering #parenting #mom #parenthood #hotmess #life #challenges #livingwithgravesdisease #theycallmemom
  • I am officially swollen everywhere! Literally my fingers and toes look like little mini sausages and none of my shoes fit. I started wearing handsome hubbies basketball shorts to bed because it feels so much better, the kids think it's pretty funny. I can't hardly get out of bed on my own and rolling over is a serious work out. Touching my toes is out of the question and putting shoes on is the same as running a marathon. Little man packs a mean punch and kick combo! I am officially exhausted all day and want to sleep every second of the day. I don't even have the energy to nest. 😁 I don't know if it's because it's a fifth baby or because it's the first one I've had in my 30s but man oh man has this pregnancy been the most exhausting one so far. I've been having contractions off and on for the last two weeks so I'll be surprised if he stays in there till his due date. I realized today that if he comes the same time as Tayton did he will be here in a little over two weeks and if he comes when Aowyn did it will be 3 weeks. Gah!!! So close! I've started calling him he same thing in my mind every time he kicks or rolls over and I'm talking to him, but Noah's not on board with a name yet. He has the one he likes and I have the one I like. Every baby we have taken 2 names to the hospital.... So we may just have this guy's name narrowed down to 2, lol fingers crossed. 👶🏼🍼💙 #baby #fifthbaby #fourthboy #pregnant #swollen #exhausted #babybump
  • Finally got Aowyns curtains hung in her room. Only took me 3 months but at least it's done. Have I ever mentioned how much I hate hanging curtains? #curtains #girlsroom #decor #decorate #decorating #sewing #homemade

Words to live by

“Give your child a compliment and a hug; say, ‘I love you’ more; always express your thanks. Never let a problem to be solved become more important than a person to be loved. Friends move away, children grow up, loved ones pass on. It’s so easy to take others for granted, until that day when they’re gone from our lives and we are left with feelings of ‘what if’ and ‘if only.’ … “Let us relish life as we live it, find joy in the journey and share our love with friends and family. One day, each of us will run out of tomorrows. Let us not put off what is most important.” - President Thomas S. Monson
