My third son turned 8 this summer and in our church that means something pretty special. At the age of 8 you are considered to be at the age of accountability which means you can now be baptized a member of our church, The church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. For my kids we always do a photo shoot and take Baptism Pictures in their suits before they get baptized. It’s a pretty big thing and my kids and I love the time we get to spend together being silly and taking pictures. Tayton picked out his suit and shirt as well as his bow tie. I love his crazy personality.
You can read about my older 2 boys baptisms here and here and more about what it means for our faith.
Tayton had lots of ideas for what he wanted to do for his Baptism Pictures so I kind of let him run the show.
I just love his adorable little smile. He has such a sweet demeanor and a wonderful personality. He likes things to be on his timeline and doesn’t like it when other people have their own timeline for him. He is maturing a lot lately and is working on adapting to other people’s timelines. He has a lot on his mind and is constantly building things and creating things. His mind astounds me. It’s usually going a mile a minute and I completely understand that he gets upset when someone interrupts that genius mind when it’s at work.
He loves cuddles but won’t ask for them. If I sit next to him he will make his way over and snuggle in. I love his sweet cuddles.
He was done taking the pictures mom wanted to take and wanted to move on to the pictures he wanted to take.
He asked for a basketball scripture case for his birthday. I had no idea he even cared about basketball but there is a lot that goes on in that cute little brain that I don’t know about.
He was so incredibly excited to get his new scriptures and reminds us to read them often. He never forgets to bring them to church and was definitely my most excited kid when it came time to receive his first set with his name on it. It melted my heart to see him love the word of God so much. He wanted a muscle shot to show off his muscles. He is surprisingly strong and fast for his tiny little frame.
How could you not just absolutely adore this sweet face?
There were just too many good ones to narrow down. I could look at his sweet face all day long.
The laying down pictures were his idea and he had a whole plan for how he wanted it to work. It was cute to listen to him directing me on what to do.
He is so incredibly silly and makes me laugh all the time. The things he thinks of and the things he says crack me up. I don’t even know where he comes up with most of it. If I could get a glimpse inside his head for just a minute I might understand what makes this kid tick and I know Id be blown away at his level of genius.
He is barely meeting the 50% mark for his height and weight. We call him the runt of the litter because he is definitely our tiniest. I love this tiny little package that’s full or personality. We call him baby Hulk because he goes from a calm demeanor to a rage monster in seconds. Who knew so much personality could fit in such a cute “runt” ( I say that in the most loving way)?
Those little freckles are my favorite. Anyone else have a weakness for freckles?
I was the worst mom or maybe not. I need to stop saying that… but anyway, His baptism was so close to after church and I had to get home and cook a ton of food for people coming over after, we got to his baptism late and we didn’t get to get any pictures. Then we had a ton of people come over after to celebrate and we had a scary thing happen with our baby and I totally forgot to get celebration party pictures. I know that doesn’t make me a bad mom, I was doing lots of good things for my kid, but it still makes me sad that we got so little pictures on the day of his baptism. I love pictures, I love the memories seeing them brings back but I’ll have to be okay with the few we did get (thanks to my sister in law).
He turned 8 in June but we waited until August 5th to have him baptized because we were having family come into town.
Baptism Pictures with Mom and Dad at home after everyone left. I made the guys put their church clothes back on. Tayton couldn’t find his jack and I was desperate for some pictures that I didn’t even care. I’m glad we salvaged my lack of picture taking for the day and got a few of us together.
Happy baptism day Tayter Tot. I love you so much and am so glad to have you in my life. You keep me on my toes and test my patience all the time. You make me a better mom and teach me more then I ever could have imagined. You make me work at this mom thing and I love that you push me to get better and be the best version of myself and the best mom I can possibly be. I feel so blessed that God trust me with such a special spirit. You are going to do great things, the world is your for the taking and I know you will achieve everything you set your mind too.
Super blurry picture of his invite. I can’t seem to find my nice original copy right now. I made his invites at Sams Club online. He picked the layout and the pictures to go on the invite.
