Valentines Tree

February 1, 2015 by Finding your joy in the journey

A Valentines tree you may ask… Why a Valentines tree?

I love decorating for holidays and I think trees are one of my favorite things to decor with.

I have a tree for Halloween, Thanksgiving and of course Christmas.

I have been waiting till I could find a white tree on sale so I could decorate for Valentines days.

I finally got one for super cheap and then bought up pink and red ornaments on sale during Christmas and right after the holiday.

I LOVE the color pink. All shades of pink.

But I don’t decorate with a lot of pinks normally in my house (aside from my daughters room), so its a ton of fun to get to decorate with that awesome color during this LOVEly time of year.

I used a bunch of my red ornaments from my Christmas tree and then collected things from the Dollar Store.

I got some heart picks at the dollar store and the little pink roses are from the dollar store as well.

Seriously all the pink and red just makes my heart so happy.

The colors are just so bright and cheery and I really love looking at them.

I decided that I wanted to add some more pops of color to the tree and went online to try to find cute little Valentines printable to put on the tree.

I found several I loved but I need to get new ink in our printer so I had not gotten around to printing them yet.

I was browsing some scrapbook paper and found a sheet with all these cute little cut outs for Valentines day and I knew that I had to use them on my tree.

I brought them home, cut them out and placed them all through out the tree and I LOVE it!!! Its exactly what I was wanting to achieve.

I had a friend suggest that I make a fun activity out of the cards.

So next year we are going to have it where the kids can put one of the Valentines cards on the tree every time they do a loving act for someone.

I would love to do it this year but I will be gone the whole week leading up to Valentines day and I don’t want my handsome hubby to have to tackle that new project by himself (read that as: he will never remember to do it.)

I think its a great idea and I love that my friend thought of such a fun thing, I am excited to start doing it next year.

Seriously, adding the scrapbook paper totally changed the look of the tree.

It just gives it that extra pop of color that takes it to a new “adorable” level.

How can you not smile when you look at it?

My 4 year old (who is my biggest supporter) tells me everyday how beautiful our tree is and how much he loves our decorations. “Mom, you weally made our house wook gweat!” (gah!! I love his w’s instead of r’s, Ill be so sad when that is gone.)

It makes me so happy when he tells me how much he loves all the decorations, it makes it all worth it.

I am debating doing an Easter tree because I just love this one so much… stay tuned to see if I actually pull one off.

    Words to live by

“Give your child a compliment and a hug; say, ‘I love you’ more; always express your thanks. Never let a problem to be solved become more important than a person to be loved. Friends move away, children grow up, loved ones pass on. It’s so easy to take others for granted, until that day when they’re gone from our lives and we are left with feelings of ‘what if’ and ‘if only.’ … “Let us relish life as we live it, find joy in the journey and share our love with friends and family. One day, each of us will run out of tomorrows. Let us not put off what is most important.” - President Thomas S. Monson
